Grid Overlay to Any Image

Start with a modest grid such as 6×6 or 8×8 and increase the density only when the subject contains small, important details. Choose a line color that contrasts with both the light and dark areas of the photo, then lower opacity until the grid remains readable without hiding edges. Crop and straighten the reference before deciding on the final grid because a later composition change will move every landmark into a different cell.
